The 25th Anniversary

On the 19th August 2009 a number of relatives and friends of the LAPG gathered at Marchington to mark the 25th anniversary.

This picture, courtesy of Roger Houldcroft of the Uttoxeter Post & Times, shows the survivors with Sqn Ldr McNeill representing 209 Air Training Corps. WJ897 was strongly associated with 209 ATC and many cadets flew on it, including Sqn Ldr McNeill. The plaque in this photo is the original, formerly displayed at Leicester Airport, but now retained by the survivors.

Wing Commander Ralph Reid-Buckle MBE was co-pilot of the Varsity. His widow initiated a flying bursary to the South & East Midlands Wing and Trent Wing ATCs.
